EDMODO (Go GREEN)
website: http://edmodo.com
Type: Educational Social Network
View Tutorial
Mobile App: Yes
Free Version/Plan: Yes
Pros: Familiar interface. Includes educational friendly functions: quizzes, polls, assignments, and file storage.
Cons: Facebook is not so popular with the kids today. Beginning users may have issues controlling the flow of messages. And for me, it's just too much work to filter through all of the stuff because it doesn't allow a "sticky" post (one that will remain at the top of the page).

NEWSELA
website: http://www.newsela.com
Pricing: Free (Professional account available)
Tutorial
Overview: Education website that allows user to create a class, add students, assign articles and assignments. It can grade assignments and provide analytical data (not sure how much on Free account). There is an offshoot for science specifically. It's worth taking a gander.

SCHOOLOGY
website:https://www.schoology.com/
Type: Educational Social Network

Mobile App: Yes
Cost: Free (Kind of)
Pros and Cons: There is not much I can say as I haven't used it enough to comment. I will say that it looks like a slightly more professional Edmodo. While there are free accounts, an "Enterprise" account is needed for complete functionality, which would, I assume, include a campus wide system such as Edmodo's.
